Please help me! Using amp as preamp...

I have an outdoor gig on Sunday where I will need lots of horsepower and, unfortunately, its an upright bass gig. My main electric rig is a Fender Bassman 1200 into two Acme Low B2's.

My upright amp is an Acoustic Image Clarus 2 which allows me to not have to use a preamp with my Underwood pickup. I do not have a dedicated preamp for my uprght anymore, and the upright straight into the Bassman sounds like total crap.

My question is, can I run my upright into my Acoustic Image, then run from the DI out on that amp into the input on my Fender 1200? I know I will need an XLR to 1/4". Anyone know if this will work?

Better from Acoustic Image DI into the Fender's effects in rather than the instrument input -- should be a good, if somewhat unwieldy, setup (but needs must, right?)

+1 you want to use the first amps pre, and the 2nd amps power, so go OUT from either preamp out, or DI out, and IN to poweramp in, or fx return.
