Please Help Me with your opinion! Gallien Krueger 400rb Fullstack

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello Everybody, i´m from argentina. Please sorry my english. Ive just registered al Talkbass and this is my first post.

I need help to take a decision. I have a bass amp. Gallien Krueger 400 RB Mark IV (280 watts 4ohms, 180 watts 8 ohms) with a cabinet, Gallien Krueger 410RBX (800 watts, 8ohms).

Actually the amp is working at 180watts because i´m using a 8 ohms cab.

I want to buy another cab, and i need opinions between two options. First, buy another 4x10 8ohms cab to use the 280w, or boy a 1x15 cab.

Please if enyone can give me an opinion that help me to make the decision.

Thanks!
Amilcar.

You should search this site on opinions about this. With that said I would consider either a 15" cabinet or a 4 10" cabinet. The cabinet should be rated for 8 ohms. Most 8 10" cabinets are rated for 4 ohms IMO. Good Luck.

Buy another 4x10. More speaker area, matching speakers, and you'll get better lows with cabinet coupling. The 15 won't do much but limit you to it's output.

It's really down to personal preference, as long as it's 8ohm! My choice would be another 4x10, but I'd still happily use the 1x15.

Yeah 4x10 would be best. Throwing a single 15 to try keeping up with four 10's is a pretty bad match. Those 10's are pretty much all you're going to hear.

According to the manual, your amp puts out 180 watts at 8 ohms, not 120.

A matching 410 is the BEST choice, where a 15 would be one of the worst choices.

I have a 400RB-IV and I found it to be not enough power for me. Now I run a fEarful 2X12 so it's a little less speaker area than a 4x10. If you're just wanting more volume maybe you could upgrade your head to a 700RB-II or a 1001RB-II into your existing cab. I don't know if that would cost more or less than adding another cab. If you just want another cab to make a stack I would go with the 4x10.

Yes! good suggestion but i live in argentina, and these products are difficult to get here. I think my best chance is boy another similar 4x10 cab! Thanks!
