I have a dilemma.

I'm looking to sell my Ampeg SVT-CL and SVT 8x10 in lieu of something a bit more lightweight and portable. Lugging the rig around by myself for gigs has been giving my back hell and I can't take it anymore.

Which is a HUGE bummer because this is THE bass tone I've always wanted.

I'm selling with hopes also to keep a bit of the extra cash after I do buy a new rig.

Is there anything I can do to keep the integrity of this amazing bass tone without breaking my back just to go make a few gigbucks?

Please help me Talkbass!

Thanks. That's helpful for the cab part.

But what about the head?

True, the svt 810 has a voice of it's own.
I think the only way to match the sound and get more portabilty is to chop the cab into two 410's or four 210's and stack 'm.

It appears that you might need to look on this as an opportunity to find a new tone.

Or to buy a truss.

I have spent years trying to find the SVT amp tone in a smaller package.
This quest has included many lighter Ampeg heads and pre amps along with numerous other brands. I have not spent loads of time with pedals although many here say the VT pedal works well.
I can say that the Mesa Walkabout is as close as I can find.
Using an Ampeg A/B selector switch (like they used to have in music stores), I can qucikly switch from amp to amp; the Mesa is the clear winner (for me).
