Bought a Jule Monique preamp and a good poweramp, and I am good to go for amps.

I liked it better than my Mesa M9, Mesa D180, Hiwatt Custom 100, GK MB Fusion, GK 1001RB-II and Ampeg SVT, so I sold them all.

I know for a fact it wouldn't. Everett Hull hated loud music, hated rock and roll and didn't think it would last, used to refuse to meet with visiting rock star dignitaries, and was absolutely flabbergasted that other companies were selling distortion as a feature on their amps. When he sold to Unimusic, he remained on their board for a year and resigned because the directors of Unimusic ignored his hatred of loud music and rejected his ideas. After he resigned, his son said he would never allow rock and roll music to be played in the house. So without a doubt, Ampeg would have been a footnote in history if Hull had stayed in charge.

I have owned Ampeg, Hartke, and currently own Genz-Benz, but the one not on the list that goes to every important gig is my Mesa/Boogie Walkabout.

I wonder how many use a specific brand, because of the name alone.

These polls never let you pick more than one option--I use different amps for different gigs, either Ampeg, Genz Benz or Mesa, depending on the need.

The question then is how many will truthfully admit to it? I turned my nose up at any SS amp except for my ACC 360/361 for a very long time. Even the Sunn 2000S tube had a problem in my eyes when I was younger and not so wise

'Tis a cunning plot to promote Trace Elliot or Mesa.

I love Hartke's and Carvins. But I would go for another Marshall VBA400 if I had the $$

Actually, you're neck and neck with Ampeg. But really, who cares? I never once bought a piece of equipment on the grounds that it's popular with others. I think anyone who would is either a beginner or a big dope. I use Ampeg because it works best for me. If it didn't, I would use something else.

I've been using an EA Micro 300 (the first version) for a while now. I really dig it and if I gigged more (read: ever) I'd look at upgrading to a Doubler, because I play EUB and BG.
