Polytone Mini-Brute Combo Amps - Thoughts?

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone out there use Polytone Mini-Brute combo Amps for bass? I had 2 over the decades- a NEW 1991 Mini-Brute IV (reverb) thing was an awesome amp! sold it for $ to buy whatever at the time? A USED 199? Mini-Brute III combo Amp as well which=ugh...couldn't get anything out of that amp that was hip bass sound. Any thoughts/owners of Polytone Mini-Brutes out there? I so wanna buy another in the future -Mini-Brute IV? I imagine. I remember years before buying my 1st one, reading Nathan East (luv him!) said he used one in the studio as a monitor and he really liked it...so I took the plunge!

Good little combos for their time (as you know). So many more and (possibly for your needs) better choices today.

the only problem i hear about polytones is that there's a couple parts in them that are impossible to get anymore, and they won't run without them if they break. knew a dude who had one in the 70's. nice little amp for its day. but the best solid state stuff is being made now imho.

I know Polytone's head office/plant is hard to get ahold of these days. In past(80's-90's) not so. Your words do raise concern about buying a new or used for that matter.
