Poor-Man's Ampeg B25B Head?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm just wondering about something...
A Bugera V55HD guitar head paired with a bass cabinet.
The V55HD is 55 watts, "all tube"...$349.99.
Turn the reverb off and it becomes a poor-man's Ampeg B-25B head?

You might be able to buy a real b25b local for about $350.

This was just a curiosity.
If I run across a V55HD head on my next Guitar Center visit I intend to give this a try and see what it might sound like.
There is a shop locally that has a pretty used and abused B-25B head in their showroom...Their asking $800.00!!!

$800 would be too much for the Full B25B stack IMHO, unless it was quite mint and you HAD to have it.

This is funny - about an hour ago I was looking up the V55HD. I've had a beat (but with original drivers) B25 cab for a few years and haven't yet stumbled across a head for it .

Cosmetically, IMO, the V55HD is a great looking head...and you can't beat the price for a brand new, all tube head.
Bugera doesn't get much love here at T.B. but every manufacturer has a diamond in their product line. The V55HD maybe Bugera's diamond.
From all the reviews I've been able to find, no one's said anything negative about the V55HD.

There's no 'r' in "Bugera".

Yah, that's what I'm hopin' to find one for. It'll just be for messin' around at home with anyways so I can't justify paying much for one...

Have you personally tried/heard one?
Or "just" what you've heard...
