Portable Affordable Combo

Im looking to buy a new amp which I need to bring with me all the time for jams at my drummer's house. I need something powerful enough to be heard and loud enough so I could play over him if I ever needed to. I don't plan on playing gigs anytime soon and even if I did they would be small places like my school. I was thinking maybe the 5-700$ range. I know there are thousands of amp out there and hundreds of companies but some direction to what I should be looking at. I really apperciate any advice thanks.

Did you check TB's "Amps For Sale" forum? I see killer combo bargains just about every day....GK, Eden, SWR, Peavey, etc.
