| | Registered User | | Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: Miami Florida | | | 1 of two things it either flaps like crushing an egg carton but really fast or it does nothing at all, no sound, depending on the voicecoils if they burnt up or not. best way to tell is to disconnect the speaker in question and check it with a multimeter to see what ohms its reading.

They can run tests, like take the individual speakers out of the cab and test them. If you blew one you should be able to get it re-coned for pretty cheap (like $60 to $80). It could be something in the cab is rattling.
I had a speaker I thought I blew but it turned out I was underpowering it. It sounded distorted and blown but it just wasn't moving enough.

If it feels like sandpaper when you push on the cone, the voicecoil is cooked. Sometimes the voicecoil can even seperate..thats no good either. And dont drop speakers..that'll shift the magnet
