Possible Blown Speaker Bergantino NV610. Please Help!

Sign in to disble this ad
I was playing my bass through my Ampeg SVT-3 head in my Bergantino NV610 and for certain reasons I had to boost the bass super high. The next day I plugged in my bass and it sounds like the top right speaker is somehwat blown/torn/or something. When I boost the bass on my ampeg I can hear the speaker making floppy sound, but when the bass is down on the ampeg the "blown" speaker does not make any sound.

This really sucks because it is such as nice cab, and I am so mad at myself for taking it out of it's pristine condition. Anyways - what is the best way to fix this? I know it is hard to diagnose without hearing it, but I am wondering if I need to buy a new speaker (and what kind I should buy) or if there are known problems with bergie's busting out, or if there are any easy fixes. Right now I have the bass on my ampeg somewhat down and it sounds fine, but as soon as I boost it up- there comes the flubbidy messyness. Thank you for the advice, I really need it.

Swap the suspected one with one that sounds good. If the problem follows the speaker, then yeah, the speaker's blown and will have to be replaced with an identical one. I would say recone, except those may not be off-the-shelf drivers, and if that's the case then a recone kit w/ the same characteristics as what you have now won't be available. Maybe a call to Bergantino would be a good place to start. Maybe they can do a recone for you or point you to someone who can. Maybe they can give you the name of someone to call at the speaker OEM and you might be able to ship it to them and specify an "NV610 recone" (or something to that effect).

If the driver is blown & you do have to replace, DEFINITELY get a replacement off Jim Bergantino.
They ain't regular speakers afaik, I could be wrong of course, but, that's what I'd do

I had an issue with a driver in my NV610. I contacted Jim and was able to get a replacement. The drivers are a proprietary design manufactured by Eminence and cannot be purchased off the shelf.
