Possible to rehouse/find a cabinet a 15" BW?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a nearly new 15" Black Widow. I got it to replace the speaker in my Peavey TNT 115 S.

I'm looking to go 4x10 + 1x15. I know I could use the combo amp as a cabinet and just rewire the speaker, but that thing weighs a ton.

Would it be possible to just find a stand alone cabinet for a 15" BW? I realize it could be a DIY job, but I have not the tools or the talent for such an endeavor.

Thanks.

Stewie, you're judgmentally quoting bible verses and you don't even know how to read!

So long as the box you find has sufficient space for the driver. Use WinISD, and find the most appropriate sized box for the driver, including ports.

Just as a comment, a 4x10 + 1x15 is not an ideal combination. The 4x10 will always out do the 1x15.

+1 Many threads on this... do a search.

It sounds like you want to use the amp in your combo with a separate 15" cab to reduce weight (per box), then later, add a 410 cab. Is that right?

You don't say if the original speaker in the combo is good. I'll assume not. If you don't have the DIY skills to build a cab, you probably don't want to mess with a box for the amp chassis either. My suggestion is, put the BW in the combo and sell it. Put the money toward what you really want.

BTW, if you think that combo weighs a ton, have you lifted any 410 cabs?
