i am looking at power conditioners and from Thomann site, i am interested in two models:
FURMAN M-10LX E http://www.thomann.de/gb/furman_m10lx_e.htm
SAMSON POWERBRITE PB10 PRO http://www.thomann.de/gb/samson_powerbrite_pb10_pro.htm
which one is best?
one thing that is making me lean towards the Samson is that is brings a gooseneck lamp to use in the back of the unit, giving me precious help in dark stages when i need to make all the connections. but everytime i see racks in youtube with power conditioners it is a Furman and i do not know if this is just a coincidence or if those models are better than the Samson for example.
so, which one is best? regards |

A bro of mine on here finally convinced me to stop using one and low and behold I do hear a sound difference for the better on the SVT CL that I use. So I'd say save the money and don't get either.

i currently have a hartke but i am also interested in the ampeg stuff |

my questions are legit and i am in the market for gear. i do not want to spoil money. if there is anyone with something useful to say, please do. you can even say that a power conditioner is not usefull at all and it cannot protect my gear against electrical peaks! if you said that, i would re-evaluate my need of such gear. because a comment like that is useful! otherwise, these comments only help to spoil this topic that can be helpful not only to me but for something else out there with the same questions.
had to say that to these last 3 comments, sorry to all the other TB members. |

If you're looking for protection from one of these units, you will be spoiling your money, as you put it...

Read a few of these posts and you'll understand why we are a bit "skeptical" of this thread... Is plugging a head into a power conditioner bad?
Not laughing at you...just the question.

The first thing I did was plug in my power conditioner to see the actual voltage we were getting. It was over 130, so I had them adjust the generator to give us 120 volts. I like being able to see what I'm getting, and to have some extra protection just in case. I've tried my Orange, Phil Jones, and Boogie amps with and without, and it has no effect on the sound. I think it's a good investment, and wouldn't be without one. |

Been playing over 35 yrs and have played some of the worst places imaginable and still have never needed one or had the use for one. Save your money, forget about the power conditioner.

you don't need a gooseneck lamp...
get a nightlight. only $5.98 USD for 2. |

In 20 or so years of gigging I've gone this route without fail. Almost all of the commercially available "power conditioners" don't have the goods to make the difference. If they do, they're large, heavy, and more expensive than what 99% of gigging musicians are willing to pay.
In the US I'd say carry a basic outlet tester to make sure the club's wiring is correct, and a decent power strip. If you want to get fancy, one of those rack mount power strips in the back of your rack is slick.

Not once.
Snake oil IMO.
