2000w? Sounds like a Basson. If it is, be warned that Basson cabs require super wattage (I believe 1500w minimum) due to the massive magnets in the speakers.

+1 And it weigh Heavier Then a Brick $h*t House...hope you have 2 or 3 roadies to move it!! I have a SWR Megoilath 810 which is rated @ 1200 watts RMS(which trust me you will blow all to bits if you ever even try to put that power to it with any bit of low end eqing...It is just a number that really does not mean much a person has got to use there ears!!) and weighs in at around 160lb it is pretty easy to move around as long as you dont have a lot of stair to move it up by yourself!!... As for me i am selling it and getting a 90lb fEARful1515/66... which should more then do what i need it to do!!

And, as the experts here keep telling people over and over again, wattage ratings are nearly meaningless in deciding between two speaker cabinets. There are sooo many more important factors to look at.

Completely disregarding the cabinet box design as a whole is an exercise to disappointment.

I'm no expert but after playing different types of speakers (bass, guitar, PA) watts in a speaker cab mean little to nothing.

What was the question? Seriously. Are you just stating hypothetical cab ratings?

It sounds to me like he's comparing a Basson 810 and an Ampeg 810e. Don't know about Basson but Ampeg's power handling rating on the 810e is legit. That said, it's still a pretty unimportant thing in the grand scheme of things.

+1. What counts is frequency response, sensitivity and driver displacement. And since you can't get that information there is no basis to compare these two cabs.

Those are two totally voiced cabs. The Kustom is meant to be cleaner and more modern while the Ampeg is going to be a stereotypical Ampeg 810. Doesn't go super low or high. The Kustoms can get pretty deep and full, I can say that as a prior owner. They were just too sterile, and that's coming from a dude who likes clean.

Hey Jimmy,

There is only one 810! Some already know it and others wont admit to it! Ampeg 810e everyday of the week and... everyone should own one at some point in their playing career!

Nice!

Vanilla, Bill Fitzmaurice said that the Bassons had grossly big magnets that would cause them to fail if they didn't get enough powe available. As far as I know, it's an isolated case.

I've owned 3 Ampeg 810s - my Mesa PH810 smokes them, as does SWR's Goliath Sr...
