Practice Headphones...

Can anyone recommend a quality set of headphones for under $100? I just moved into my new house for the semester and I want to avoid pissing off my roommates via my bass amp.

Sennheiser makes a very nice pair (with pretty decent bass response) for about $75. I don't own them, but I tried out the demo pair at my local Best Buy and they sounded great, especially for less than $100

I play with these all the time. http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/...ones/index.jsp

I like them, but never really compared to others. I used to play with smaller sony ones but after an hour or so my ear hurt too much.. Thats why I went with the "around ears" headphones.

Sony MDR7506 are very popular. They work well for me. I also have MDR 7509s which have 50mm drivers . The bigger drivers emphasize bass a little more, but you lose highs compared to the 7506s, which have 40 mm drivers. I actually prefer the 7506s.

Sennheiser, hands down. I bought a factory-refurbished pair of eh150's for $8 plus $4 shipping, on Amazon. Retail price is $40. Excellent headphones. You can not lose with Sennheiser!!

I agree on the MDR7506. Most recently I have been using my Grado SR80i's. They are about $100 if I recall and they are very natural sounding for bass. Surprisingly in fact.

In the big picture, none of the headphones mentioned are that great - especially the Bose units. I wouldn't hit a dog with them.
Sennheiser and AKG have the best engineering in <$100 price range - but neither of these brands offers a a big choice of models unless you spend more dough. The Grado headphones sound good too but aren't very comfortable in my opinion.
If you don't need closed-back headphones for noise isolation, you can find something in this price range

Go wireless for small dollars! I've used the GE WHP 141 wireless model for awhile, and no complaints.
