Preamp choices and why?

I am wanting to try a separate preamp matched with a power amp and I am wanting some opinions here. I just sold my Aguilar DB750 and I loved it, but what else is out there that has such a great sound? Demeter? Aguilar? I play exclusively 5 stringers and music wise, I play a little of everything really. I loved the Aguilar tone and was wondering if a DB659 would be similar? How are the Demeters? Any advice or input would be great. Any input on a power amp as well would be great as there are so many to choose from. Thanks!

If you liked your 750 I would check out the Tonehammer pedal. It has enough juice to drive a power amp, and has a lot of the vibe from your 750. I run mine into a channel strip to add to my eq power, and I love it.
