so with my fuzz pedal and mixer/blender ive been overloading my preamp at times.

if i got another cab would this lessen the amount of output to my combo?

i have a gk mb 210 and im thinking of going with an avatar 2x10 neo

Not exactly, but it may allow you to reduce the gain going into your preamp and still achieve the same or greater volume.

Doesn't your preamp have a second input jack for active pickups or a attenuation switch next to the jack? That will lower the input gain and may help your situation.

Couple of things to unpack here (I'm not directly familiar with the GK head you have, so I'm speaking in generalities):
1. You can turn down the gain into and/or from the preamp and still turn up the master volume (which increases output from the power amp section) until your speakers start to complain, anyway -- this is where the 500 W comes from.
2. "Getting all 500 W out of it" is not what's going to increase your volume anywhere near as much as increasing the number of speakers, which incidentally will enable you to increase the power output by reducing the resistance the power amp sees.

So basically, first cut the gain on your pedals and/or the preamp and increase the master volume and see if this works. Second, get another cabinet (ideally a match for the cabinet the combo is built into). Third, get a new amp.

well its the gk mb 210 so whatever is powering it

also i am using the active input on my amp.

the thing is, is that im using a wounded paw blender for clean and fuzz guitars so the volumes are stacked.

im thinking of going with an avatar 2x10 or 4x10 cab so....im hoping the difference in volume is a lot.

I don't suggest getting a 4x10 to add on. Your head would send 1/2 of it's watts to the speakers in the combo and 1/2 to the 4x10 if they are of the same Ohms meaning that the 4x10 would get 1/2 the wattage per speaker as the combo speakers would ... Better to stick with another 2x10, and I would get a G-K extension cab (despite the extra cost), so I would know that the two 2x10's will sound good together. Cheers.
