Guys!
I need you now, as I need to know.
Lots of rumor´s going on to "Hiwatt and Bass": probably the biggest
thing on earth?!- I haven´t tried so far
I preferr deep, pounding lows. gnarly open mids, warm singing highs.
tube- presence and -compression and vintage punch.
long story short-
I feel like a lucky guy one guy answered me today I could buy his
HIWATT PA 200 (that´s -what I know- the same circuits like the HIWATT
200 (Dr201) ). What do you think? Price is 1250.-, incl. cargo.
Is it worth???
What´s the prices today for this?
thanks |

First of all, welcome to the TalkBass kopplog.
Secondly, as the value/price of an vintage item depends greatly of the location, it would be helpful to know Yours . (= Please fill out Your location)
Thirdly, while a veiled appraisal request by a seller is always a possibility, even more so with a new member, it's also my understanding that asking for the value is all right unless one's openly selling.
As for the price, to my understanding it's on the cheap side even in UK, a real bargain in USA and the rest of the Europe.
Regards

I´m in Austria, as the seller too.
He told me before he bought his HIWATT brandnew in the early 70´s.
it has a black frontface, and the usual scrachies as it was on road too.
bargaining around, we´re on 1100.- (euro) now-
maybe I could get it for 1050.-, I´ll hope |

The pre-amp circuit on a Hiwatt 200 watt PA (DR203) is a bit different from that in a standard Hiwatt DR201. The DR203 works fine as bass amp. You can bridge any number of the 6 input channels as long as you have Y-cables or splitter(s). |

(he has the original valves too and hand it over to me too)

Looks like it still has a Bulgin under the tape on the back, which are in demand too, not for a fortune though. V. nice condition btw.
A 201 on Ebay UK has been going for £1000 - £1200 recently, not that the real ones come up that often. |

I found a Mesa Strategy 400 stereo with presence controls on the front-
also in a very mint condition for 800.- euro straight.
guess, that´s it and I´ll take that one.
(not that vintage but also rare and: beeefyy )
if anyone want to slap me in the face for not taking the Hiwatt-
tell me now or be damned forever..
thanks all to you,
chris

Mesas will pop up every once and a while, so You're probably going to kick yourself in the butt in the future if you don't buy the Hiwatt now when you have the chance.
My humble opinion only of course.
