| Pro Channel Vs Studio Channel Observations

After recently purchasing both pre's (got the Presonus first), I have some interesting observations in the short time I've been tweaking. The SC was frustrating at first due to lack of a hot enough signal to drive the Crown (XLS1500 Drivercore). I've had a few posts on that. I was finally able to get some decent volume running one of my 4 ohm cabs bridged. Beautiful EQ capabilities were at my disposal. Or so I thought.
Today I broke out the PC. Wow. I am easily driving my cabs to LOUDER, clean volumes with the amp on 2, then with the SC on 9, and the level meter maxing out. The PC EQ adjustments were intimidating at first, as I did have to read the manual a couple of times to understand the correct operation of the unit whilst fiddling. One must certainly think about what you are doing with all the para adjustments instead of just twisting until it sounds good. My effort was rewarded with a killer tone, with tons of headroom. I went back to the Presonus, and everything seemed so uninspired. I'm sure my ears were tired, and I will give it another go tomorrow. For now, the Crown has adopted the Pro Channel, and I must find another (lightweight) amp that doesn't require such a hot signal. I'll post on the Presonus after I get time to tweak some more.
Edited to add: In order to give the Presonus a fair shake, I couldn't believe it sounded so bad after trying the other pre. It wasn't. I rechecked all my connections and the TRS cable from the pre to the amp was not completely plugged in all the way. My goof. The killer tone is back, as well as a dolop of volume. Now the amp only has to be on 6 instead of 9 to be as loud as the Pro Channel!
