problem with SVT pro 4

I've read already a couple other threads relating to the peak / limit light issues but I have somewhat a diferent issue if someone can help me out. I'm running through a boss GT 6B pedal board into the SVT 4 then into a rack mounted sans amp. The peak light never comes on but the limit light is constantly going, is that bad?

Well, is it insanely loud?

A 4PRO at full power into 4 ohms bridge is really loud...... and if the limit light is on, you SHOULD be getting full power if all is well. Still pretty loud with separate speakers and non-bridged.....

Its loud but I wouldn't say "insanely loud". I just heard two different stories about the peak red light is what you don't want flashing and that it's normal to see the limit light constantly flicker and I've also heard the opposite where some say let the peak light stay on. I'm just not getting it and I do not want to ruin my amp.

Seems to me if you are not running too much of a load impedance wise, you aren't going to ruin your amp. You may blow out your speakers though.

Names of things.........

"Peak" light............. preamp level light

"Limit" light............. Poweramp light that is lit when at max output and the "limiter" is operating.

Peak light is lit under conditions of plenty of input signaal. Does not mean you have distortion, and won't ruin anything. Just means you have lots of signal, and not to turn gain up more.

Limit light means the power amp is at max output (for that speaker impedance) and there is no point to turning up more. No damage is done, but you are running at max, so you may run into heating issues, etc.

Thank you for your help, it means a lot. As far as the limit telling me I'm at "max level" has me wondering now. My gain is about 11 o'clock and my master is about 3 o'clock. I'm running through a 8x10 ampeg cab. should that be maxing my power amp out? I'm also bridging it with a speak on cable.

it's that last line....... makes me wonder...............

Do you have the bridge mono switch in "bridge" ?

If not, you are getting less than half the power you should, with distortion thrown in as an "extra". And the distortion is triggering the limiter early.

I'll double check but I'm almost positive that the mono/bridge switch is in. Now I do run distortion through my bass pedals, is that distortion causing the limit to constantly flicker?
