Putting Casters on Isovent cab, Need some help/ideas

Sign in to disble this ad
I have just gotten an Ampeg Isovent Cab. First I am going to put Purple Tolex on. Then I want to be able to keep my cab on the floor, but Put 2 casters on the back and tip it over like a suite case. I am not positive what this design would be called so I have trouble looking for it online. The weight of the cab is something like 130 lbs, so two casters must be able to support that, even though it has the balance I would just like the support. And the Handle on top, I am guessing I will have to trill some kinda two slip on support beams with an adjustable handle to lift and slip back in like a suitcase. Any input or info would be greatly Appreciated. THanks!

From experience, the slide out luggage handles work ok on smaller, lighter cabs but on something like that they won't last long....too flimsy. Perhaps bolt a towel bar to it or buy a metal collapsable dolly and use the handle part of that to mount on the back of the cab.

Featuring Eminence Speakers, Crown Amplifiers, DIY Speaker Kits - Speaker Hardware, over 30 years Audio experience I think has the corner wheels that mount in the back corner of the cab for tilt back and roll. I like that way of moving cabs but I'd advise getting if not a slip cover at least keep a small tarp, plastic sheet or something in your gig bag. If you ever get caught having to load in the rain, the cones face skyward when you're rolling it around.

I am in portland, and Now I took the amp off craigs list and am going to re-do everything. I am going to put Purple Tolex on it and the casters and then raise the price and re-sell it or keep it and save for a SVT 7 head.

I was going to jump on it but figured it was too heavy. It weighs more then my swr 6x10 and looks more awkward to carry... But I would vote for black tolex because honestly I think that purple would lower the value.

I agree with the comment about the Tolex. If you put purple on it you MAY find one person in 12 months who is interested but if you put black on it you will attract anyone who is interested in that model cab. If you are looking to flip the cab stick with original.

Yes, those are good points. I really did not take that into consideration. Purple for myself, black to re-sell. So now I need to deciede to keep it or not. I also looked at the speakers, the 2 x 10s are Eden 1060s and the 2 15xs I can not find a Speaker code for them AT ALL. , Still sounds amazing however.
