Putting Together A Rig QUESTION

Sign in to disble this ad
I currently own an Acoustic B200 Head and a 4x10 cab. My plan is to buy a 1x15 for the low end support, and then I want to get a new head. I was thinking about either an Ampeg B2R or some kind of Sovtek, cause of the awesome gainy sound they get. What would you recommend? Thanks for the help!

No reason to buy a 1X15...............

Speaker size has nothing to do with it's sound.

Additionally, a 1X15 is a poor match for a 4X10 as it will be the weak chain in your rig.

+1

A second identical 4x10 would be a better match.

But don't skimp on your equipment. If you are going to gig a lot, you want something that not only sounds good, but is reliable and can take the rigors of gigging. There is a glut of equipment for us bass players these days, and a lot of it looks good, and sounds good, but won't last more than a couple of gigs. So choose wisely. Also remember that just because it's expensive, doesn't necessarily mean it will hold up to continued use IMHO, YMMV and all that

+1 again. 410/15=bad pairing, no matter how popular it may be, or how many famous bassists use it. +1 again, don't skimp on your speaker cabs- they are your sound, moreso than the amp, or even the bass, (though all are important).

So, say I get another 4x10. What head should I put on it? Sovtek or Ampeg?
