In a Quandry

I am coming off a 3 year break from playing bass. I am looking for a mid cost solution to a problem im having selecting an amp. Im not opposed to 1 15 combo amps but im looking for a 2 10 combo amp in the 200$ to 600$ range so far these are my choices. Im open to feedback or lack of quality on my choices and open to suggestions. Im leaning towards the hartke due to having good luck with them in the past, but I hear the new ones are finicky. And im not opposed to using behringer I had a damn good backup amp from them.

out of those choices i'd take the hydrive. love ampeg but the ba115 isn't a favorite of mine. the others just don't have the sweet tone of the hydrives. and behringer should be off your list as they are crap.

Thx a ton for the feedback I was leaning Hartke anyway my old 5000 head was a champ for years. Any cautionary notes about the new hartke lines?

Can't say from too much personal experience, but IME Hartke is probably putting out some of the best stuff they have in years. The Hydrives have been getting pretty good reviews on here, and I played the combos the other day and they sounded amazing.

only that they have excellent cs, and you can call larry hartke directly if you want.

No affiliation whatsoever with this seller, but what about this from the TB classifieds. Great amp, great deal.

The Fender combos aren't bad, but of the choices you have listed, I agree with Jimmy. Hartke gear is good stuff. Relible, good tone and as was said earlier, good customer service. Also, while I don't know about the newer Peavey combos, Peavey stuff normally lasts forever and I'd bet their new combo would be a workhorse.

I was thinking about holding out for the peavey but the ship date is unknown. Im going up to my local dealer tonight and trying the hartke out. When I had my hartke I got lucky and didnt get one with cold solder problems on the board. From the sounds of it they fixed that problem.

Fender Rumble 350 watts

I love mine. I play two basses through it, my 'wick $$ and my Scjhecter Elite Custom (throw in a few more adjectives if you like) 004.

Polar opposites, the $$ is deep & growly like you'd expect and the Schecter is high and tinny (in a good way, hard to explain) and they are both very distinct through this amp. I love the 2x10 with the tweeter in there. Mmmm Mmmm good.

Hydrive 5210

They all sounded good but I was wondering how durable the aluminum cones are. Sorry to ask so many questions but ive actually never used an aluminum speaker.

I'd look into used peavey gear.

You can get it for a steal of a price and it'll probably outlive the human race.

Discontinued, but I played a used Fender 400 Pro 2x10 the other day that really impressed me with its great deep tone and good volume. Lots of knobs (comparatively), but sounded great set flat.

I'm typically an SVT-Classic-with-a-Fridge guy, and most combos I demo fail miserably, but I could see myself gigging with one of these.

$589 used

Its times like this I wish brook mays didnt go under, I used to be a purchaser for them and I loved the peavey line. I would be set on their new 600 watt tnt tour if they would ever release it. And I completely understand the ampeg and fridge set up my old rig was a ampeg svt 4 with a 1980's birch mesa boogie 2 15 bass cab. I would get another but after having my jam space robbed a while back and losing it im on a much tighter budget lol.
