A question about 2-channel bridgable amps

I'm looking at a Tecamp Puma 1000, but I think the same question applies to other 2-channel amps. Here goes:

The amp is rated for 500 watts per channel into 4 ohms, or 1000 watts bridged into 8 ohms. What do you do if you have two 8 ohm cabs? You could connect one cab to each channel and (I assume) get 250 watts each, or cennect them in parallel to one channel and get 500 watts. Am I correct in thinking there's no way to get more than 500 watts in this configuration?

Correct. You can run one off of each side, or both off of one side. If the amp is not safe to bridge at 4 Ohms, then you can not run both cabs in bridge mode.
