Question about cab sizes in order to sit in mix with guitars

Hey all,

Hope you guys are having a great day so far..

I am in a metal band, and have recently bought an Ampeg SVT II Pro, and have the opportunity to get an SVT 8x10 for a really good price. The two other guitarists in our band are running two Mesas, one triple rec and one mark III, both through Marshall 4x12s. If I choose to get this 810, will I overpower my band mates or will I sit in just fine? Any responses are greatly appreciated.

God bless

If you use your volume knob and EQ things correctly, you'll fit in perfectly even if the two Mesa's are cranked to 11.

I wouldn't worry about overpowering them. I can't recall where that's ever been an issue for a bass player. In fact, it always seems to be the opposite. If they were both playing with 1x12 combos, then maybe, but since they each have 4x12's, you may want to get 2 8x10's!

It takes at least twice the driver count with bass compared to guitar for equal output at full power. If your guitar players aren't sensible with their levels you'll be lucky to keep up with them, not the other way around.

The Ampeg SVT 810 will work good - get it. The SVT 810 is a good match for the SVT II Pro and it looks good, sounds good, and it’s road worthy.

God Bless
