Question about cutting ports to length

Sign in to disble this ad
If the recipe for a ported enclosure, (using round plastic ports), calls for a port length of 3.076", does that mean that I need to add the thickness of the baffle? So a 1/2" baffle would make a 3.576" port length?

The port length is the total length of the port. If the baffle is 1/2", the port would stick 2.576" into the box interior.

Cool, thanks for the reply.

My calculations, port diameter x pi x tuned port length worked out to the listed port displacement so I thought that I'd have to add the baffle thickness to it.

Just wanted to check anyway before I start cutting into ports.

If you're going to fit the ports into the baffle, then they'd be cut to the full 3.072", because they'll go flush to the front of the baffle board.

See the attached example.

Just remember to add the inside port area back into the box...
