| Question about Fender Bassman 4000

Hi all! Been a long time since I posted here...probably sometime back in the Peavey Millennium USA thread.
Anyway, a local shop has a Fender Bassman 400 combo amp for sale. I can get it for $250. Unit powers on sounds, good, but has an odd behaviour: Most of the tone controls had a limited range clockwise and counterclockwise unless you pulled the knob out a bit, and then you could use the full range of the control. Is this normal or has someone modded this amp in some odd fashion?
Oh, anyone out there use this amp? What do you think of it?
