Sign in to disble this ad
Whatsup everyone? Kpnewb here...I've been a member for a while but i think this might be my first post...so sorry if im breaking any forum rules, but i did run searches on the questions though and found nothing

Im thinking of buying this 2 15" cab with a 160 watt amp, its 600 bucks...the amp is small i know but here is the add on craigslist

http://nashville.craigslist.org/msg/1855735547.html

I really have kind of had my heart on 2 15"s for a while now

Also, i use a Fender bassman 15" right now, is there any way to wire together a combo amp with a cab/head?

Thanks a bunch guys, this forum rules, glad to see things are still hoping here...

God Bless all and enjoy your weekend

Should oughta rock pretty good with that rig. As to "hooking up with a combo", just use an AB/Y splitter, or better yet, a stereo effects pedal. Bass to pedal, left out to amp A, right out to amp B. Have fun.

SWEET! Thanks a bunch, what do you think about 600 bucks for that amp, pretty good price or no?

I'd say that rig is WAY overpriced.

For $600 you should be able to find a used head that is in the 300-400 watt range, and a name brand 2X15.

thats what i was thinking, at least a bit overpriced if not way overpriced, my bassman combo w/ 100w and a 15" speaker cost 200 bucks, this is only adding another 15 and 60 more watts on the amp...not totally worth 600 bucks

only so many companies make 2 15"s though right? i need to research it more but as far as i know bergantinos are very good from what i understand, i think fender used to make a 2 15" cab im not sure on that though, i think ampeg used to make one too not sure though

you got a suggestion for the rig your describing bass pounder?

You can do better than that. I've got a Peavey 2-15 with upgraded speaks, I can't get $150 for it. (its too big and expensive to ship)

2-15" cab? What are you driving? (for a car that is).

I like the 2-15 set up, played it for years, but its a pain to haul in a small car.

My solution was to build a couple TL-606's, single 15" cabs. Use one or both depending on the situation. Both go in the back seat of a Corolla.

It was an easy project.

One is enough for most anything. Both are serious butt kicking fun.

Why isn't the Fender cutting it? If its just short of watts, I'd start there with a better head. A bit of creative wiring will get it running through the cab you have.

Good luck

thanks single malt

the 2 15" is what i was kind of in search of and this simply provides the cab and the head in one package, the head is tiny all be it, but a head and 2 15" cab together are pretty hard to find from what i have noticed, unless someone can point me in the right direction, i tried to search it but im not sure my search function is working for me, i agree it should cost less though

i have a 100 w 15", single 15" fender bassman, and it definitely rocks hard, but i wanna upgrade to a full stack, and 2 15"s may not quite equal a full stack, but i would bi amp (not sure its the correct term) the two together, for a total of 260 watts for 3 15"s (1-100w 15" fender bassman combo + 160w w/ 2 15"s)

i have an enormous SUV to haul all this gear in, so theres not an issue there

2 15"s and 8 10"s take up about the same space in a cab right?

A 215 and a 810 take up similar amounts of space. I think you can do better price and performance wise if you take a little time and look around. Realistically, you probably do not need 215, or 810...msot do not need it. I have not used more than a single 410 in close to 10 years. Looking for used gear is the right way to go. I would suggest looking for a Peavey 410tx as they can be found pretty cheap, sound good, and can handle a bunch of power.

You might have the SUV to haul around a big 2 X15 cab (or an 8 x 10), but why would you want to?. Single 15 cabs are much easier to handle, and the single 15 cabs made today handle much more wattage than the 2 x 15's of yesteryear. I used to play a 2 x15 Fender Bassman cab with JBL K140's. Good cab, but a moose to move. I sold it when we bought the house we have now, because I knew I'd never be able to get it up & down the basement stairs by myself. I switched to 1 x15's...that handle more wattage than the old Fender, in a much more compact enclosure.

To the OP: I can set you up with a better deal than the CL guy is offering. Might be a bit of a ride from Tn, but maybe worth your while. Pm me if you're interested. Yes, 15's, and way more wattage from the head.
