Question regarding Ampeg SVT 4 Pro and Ampeg 8x10

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an Ampeg SVT 4Pro running thru a Ampeg 8x10. I have a Spectron Neutrik cable and I believe I'm running it mono, but I'm not 100% sure. I have the mono switch in and the cable itself is plugged into the Mono Bridge/Biamp (the middle outlet on the SVT 4Pro) I've read that you have to have a spectron neutrik cable and wire it +2 running into the SVT 4 and have the other end wired +1 -1 running into the actual 8x10. I havn't done anything to the cable itself so I'm assuming it is still wired +1 on both ends. Will I get more power if I run it +2 on one end and +1 -1 on the opposite end? If so, how do you rewire it?

One last question, on the 8x10 itself does it matter what input I plug the cable into? There are only two on the back, so I'm assuming it dosn't matter.

Thanks,
Steve

You have it wired correctly - It wouldn`t work at all if you didn`t. And its "speakon", BTW.

There should be a video on the Ampeg website on how to re-wire the cable. When you buy it new, I think they include one already rewired for you. It's very easy to do though

You need to select one end of your cable... OK got one? Now take the connector apart. Take the wire from the -1 terminal and move it to the +2 terminal.

Now before putting the cable back together put a couple tape stripes or a tie wrap and cut it short, anything to identify the end with the wire moved. This one HAS to be connected to the 4 pro.

Then push the button in. You will now have more than twice the power you have with the thing in stereo / dual mono.

Any other questions feel free to email. If you need any more 4PRO's I have six for sale right now. I have gone to 100% SVP1600's the power amp only versions.
