Questions about Cab/Head setup

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an Ampeg SVT-1510HE cab sitting in my basement from my cousin who got it from his friend who moved to Germany. It needs a head unit, but i know absolutely nothing about the whole cab/head setup thing or heads in general. The setup i have is a combo setup, but i think if i get this setup it will sound better. So my questions are: What head unit would be nice for this cab(nothing super pricey, just modest middle of the road price) and what is all involved to set it up, what do i need? Thanks for the help

Any head North of 200W that you like the tone of. Take the cab to the store, try them out.

If it has an aux speaker out, and it's speaker can be unplugged you could try it with your combo amp. Or, together.

What combo do you have?

For splitting the signal, I jump rather than split. Just go from one place to the next.

its a fender 180 watt or 220 watt(not sure off the top of my head) it has one 15" speaker. its loud but i want to be able to cover more ground(mids, tone, etc) and i think if i find a nice head then this setup could be pretty nice

If your COMBO can take another 8 ohm cab without a prob. then U CAN add the SVT15 to it & run BOTH cabs- HUGE sound!!!! Check IF the combo CAN SAFELY add another cab 1st tho

If it ISN'T stated near the speaker output on the combo, a 'search' wiki -etc... should tell U.
