Rather new to this kind of thing, so any help appreciated! Our guitarists have upgraded their rigs to stupid loud, and my Sunn Beta Bass into an 8x10 isn't loud enough anymore.

I found a guy who's selling an old Sunn Coliseum Slave--320 watts at 2ohms. I'd like to set up the Beta as a preamp into the Slave. Once I've got that set up, I want to run 2 4-ohm cabs out of the Coliseum (probably the 8x10 and a 2x15).

My question is two-fold. First, what is the correct way to run the Beta into the slave, and second, can I still run additional cabs out of the speaker ports on the Beta if the Coliseum is up and running 2 cabs?

Wow - If an 8x10 won't cut it... That's pretty loud! Don't forget to invest in hearing protection to go with the guitarists' new equipment. Subbed to see how this pans out.

It has been a long time since I have seen the back of either. The Beta should have a pre out or slave out, this connects to the slaves input. Yes both amps can then drive cabs.

Awesome. I'll keep you updated. I also have an ABY box and a second Sunn Beta, so I might even run a 4x12 or a second 8x10 out of that in addition to all the stuff hooked up to the sunn beta/coliseum combo. Custom molded earplugs are next on the list of purchases...

I use an instrument cable to connect them, right? Not a speaker cable?

What kind of music does your band play?

Do what B-String says. After connecting, you then run a cab from each head (or as many as the head's minimum impedance allows).

Questions about setting up a Coliseum Slave
Well, you'll need two or three lions, some raggedy chainmail, a trident...

Exar's business is on hold for now. I will still help previous customers.

I would reverse those priorities.

Ha, we play doom metal, hence the Sunn worship and mountains of cabs. Guitarists just upgraded to Verellens, which are the loudest heads I've ever heard in my entire life.

Hahaha... picturing Victor Mature in one of those '50s movies he did.

Ah, well then, you should make your way over to this thread. It's fun.
