quick help for a cable making newb

Sign in to disble this ad
so the speakon connectors on my 4 wire speaker cables were cheap and falling apart, so I bought some Neutrik NL4FC 4 pole cable mounts. I thought I had the wiring right, matching the wires to the same connectors. 1+ to 1+, etc. but it did not work and I stupidly did not look at how the old connectors were connected.

I use a very simple rig setup. LMII to an Epifani 112 and a trace Elliott single 15. So no biamping or anything.

Can anyone help me figure this wiring out? Google search yielded no help, and the neutrik instructions on their website are no help at all. Thanks guys.

You have to look very close at the connectors to see the little 1+,1-,2+,2-. Old farts like myself may need a magnifier and strong light. Just match your wire colors.
You will only need the 1+ and 1-

Like he said. Connect the same wire to 1+ at both ends and the wire to 1- at both ends. Don't use 2+ and 2-.

I ended up using the 2- and 2+ since they were both connected before with the other cheap speaking. Huge difference in quality by the way. Neutriks are way better.

Good to hear....it helps having quality plugs. And yeah, using the 2+/- is the same thing.

Well then what you have is a double run of wire doing the same thing.....un-necessary but really won't hurt anything. It'd be like using 1 wire each a lot thicker than you need assuming both the +'s and -'s are the same guage.
