Quick Hiwatt Question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi All,

Quick Question;

I was told by a friend of a friend to try and connect my normal input and my brilliant input together with a patch cable, I did and it sounded great, I really liked the sound... just wonder could this harm my amp in anyway at all?

Thanks all,

- Paul

Rest easy it's no problem. It's a classic old school trick that almost everyone did back in the day.

Of course to get the full effect of this trick you need a Fender Precision with flat wounds, a cheesecloth shirt, bell-bottom jeans or loon pants and tennis shoes...(3 days, Man).

Hi.

Another vote for "nope", no harm done.

Like said, it's as old a trick as four input, two channel pre sections: Marshall, Fender, Hiwatt, Monster etc.

Back in the day when I bought my Monster, I stumped the clerc completely by linking the two channels. He rushed from the back room and accused me of trying one of the expensive vintage amps in the shop. After hearing the channels linked, he even tried to increase the asking price .

Sam

Yo Sam

I know I'm going to regret this but Monster?????? Is this some amp that came out of the mountains of Finland to eat unsuspecting bass players???

Yo Paul.

More like the flatlands of southern Finland, not that we have much mountains anyway. The ice age and all .

Monster was more or less an "improved" Marshall with heftier transformers that was manufactured back in the 70's and 80's. Extremely underrated amps up until this decade, when they decided to continue production.

Here's the homepage:

And here's mine:

And look! It's got your initial right in the middle of the name plate!!! Cool looking amp!

No mountains huh? I tell you those Ice ages really grind you down don't they!

Take care...
Paul
