isn't there a simple`jack' that has mono male end (exact same size as a guitar cable hasdrrrrr)with a stereo female end so i can convert my old 1/15 amp for headphone use, just a simple one piece piece

talking to `the guy' at Radio Shack it sounds like i have to buy 3 or so items and plug-in,convert to an`rca cable'then aparently adapt onto(or into) that, sheeshe, and yes i've looked online,at ebay items,i'm a wee tad bit more confused at what i see listed(and the descriptions of what they ADAPT to),,blahblahblah

all i want is one plug(jack),just plug IT into my amp and then plug my stereo jack from my headphones into that,CAN IT BE DONE?,MY other choice(and a good one) would be a long cable with dif ends so i can get farther than 4 ft from the amp

hey yeah my signature is why i need headphones(neighbors, just wait till i go postal!)

call your local chain music store. hosa makes a buttload of adapters that blows away rs's selection.

Are you trying to plug headphones into a line out or a speaker out? What's your output? A speaker out will fry your headphones and a line out won't have a volume control and may be too quiet.

You can make a cable and solder the tip and ring ends of the female side to the tip of the mono side. Bypass the ground on the stereo side.

But, I'd recommend you do more research before you start plugging headphones into things.

ok

it's an old Peavey TNT 100 combo, perfect for use in an autobody shop garage band setting, good clean power, not everything i'd like but`for that setting' it's ruggedly perfect(and i own the place so i'll always have some sort of amp in my bondoshop i jus need headphones on it),wife sewed up a super heavy cover out of some antique vinyl,it works great

it's the same size jack as an instrument cable, the`speaker part' of the combo plugs into the`head part'from behind,if you've never seen one there's one on eBay with quite a bit of cable showing in one pic,no idea why; mines tidy,,,he!! i have a soldering gun let me in there! i'll splice another transformer or two in there while i'm there!(panting)add a phone jack along the way

This is a terrible idea - sorry.

Speaker outs put out watts of power while headphones need milliwatts. If you try this you will blow your headphones and possibly damage your hearing. You need to cut the available power for safety. The tip and the ring of the headphone socket needs a 1kΩ 5w resistor each connected to the tip of the speaker cable to your amp. Sleeves will be common ground. Mount the sockets in a plastic box. Radio Shack should have everything you need.

Just get something with a headphone out.

Korg Pandora or many of the other multitude of units.

You could get a micro mixer and play through that. It will also give you a spare channel for a computer or MP3 player. Cost around $40.

I got one of these for headphone practicing:

http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/502.aspx

At Guitar Center on sale for about $55 or something.

Best part is that you can put your iPod or CD player into one of the channels or the Tape In, mix it with your bass into Channel 1 and play to the music with the right volume levels.

You can also send the outs of this mixer into your bass amp if you want amplified bass karaoke.

The bonus is that it will also work as a simple vocal mixer as well...you could do one man shows with this through your bass amp.

Yeah I wouldn't try to get headphones out of that amp. You're trying to plug headphones into a powered output. You'll fry your headphones and your ears.
