For those of us here who have not seen, Jess Oliver, the genius behind the AMPEG B-15 and the entire Portaflex series, as well as the Ampeg Baby Bass, passed away yesterday.
Just a year ago Jess sold off most of his personal amp collection, and I'm hoping some of the TBers were able to get a piece of this history.
Godspeed Mr. Oliver. Your contribution to the bass can NEVER be duplicated or replaced. Finally Jamerson and the rest of the bassists in heaven will have the ultimate amp tech.
My sympathies, condolences and prayers go out to the Oliver family and all those touched by him.
Tom Richards

RIP. |

I tagged along. Jess has a ton of stories, showed up his amps, shop and even the old Chrysler with the blue-checkered tolex top. A genius with total class! |
