Rack cases made by Ampeg?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've recently seen some photos that feature Ampeg amplifiers in rack cases with Ampeg logos on them, leading me to believe that Ampeg makes such things. I know I'm a brand nerd for wanting this, but does anyone have any idea who sells these/where I could get a hold of one of these? I've been looking online for a while now and can't seem to find anything other than pictures.

I don't recall there being 19" rack cases with logos but they did have some 19", 1-space fillers with the logos years ago

I remember seeing ads for the SVT2 and 4 Pro in a tolex case around the mid 90s. I've never actually seen one in the flesh.

Yeah they made them. They were a 4 space case for the SVTII. There is a company that makes a copy of the original. They sell on eBay for $185

If you are looking for one to match a Classic series cab, might want to check here also: http://bobscustomamps.com/

Yes, they did. I have two of them. Mine are both 3-Space racks and one of them is fairly deep (like 25" or so) - Fits the SVT6-PRO which is a deep amp.

The deep one has rat fur, chrome corner pieces on all 8 corners (true box shape, no slanted corners), and ampeg spring loaded handles. This one I purchaed new in '04 for about $180 at guitar center. It came with a 1-space black plate with big white "Ampeg" painted across it. The handles are stamped with "Ampeg" in the latest ampeg font style. Built like a tank - the feet are more spread out on this one, as in they don't match the HLF series cab top cups.

The other one I purchased used, and from what I can tell, it's either late 80's or 90's. It it covered in black Tolex, not as deep (not sure exaclty as I''m not at home now), has chrome corner pieces on 6 corners as the top-front is slanted sort of like an SVT amp. The handles are spring-loaded and have the lower-case "ampeg" stamped on them - also built like a tank. I got this one used, so I'm not sure if it actually every came with the 1-space Ampeg plate. This one has feet layed out that fit right into the holes/cups that are on the HLF series cabs.

These are near impossible to find. They may have been priced a little too high at the time, killing the demand for them I'm guessing. (I got sucked into buying one by the sales person at the time when I bought an amp... glad he did actually, they are great amp-case)

Good luck. They do show up from time to time, just be patient.

There is one on Ebay now (not mine). They were made to go with the old pro (batman) cabs.

Yeah, we made them.

I'm not entirely sure why........ they were no great shakes, I think they were made as much for dealer display as for anything else.....

My advice, as an "Ampeg loyalist", is to make your own before trying to find a "real" Ampeg one.......!

FWIW, having no luck finding an Ampeg, I had
a rack case made for me by Benny at rak shack:

Good quality, fair price, prompt service, no complaints.

They were the SVT-RC's.

I have to agree that while they looked nice, they weren't the most practical. I thought about getting one, but the more I thought about it . . . I'd rather have my amp in a proper rack case!
