Rack Ears for GK MB500

Sign in to disble this ad
I've done the Google search rack ears for an MB500 head. I'd really like to throw this head into a small rack case (with rack tuner and power conditioner) so that this thing isn't just dangling loose inside of a gigbag. I've found other people upset about how GK doesn't make rack ears for it, I've found a company that sells them but is out-of-stock, and I'd like to hear what your takes are on solving this issue. Has anybody cut any corners and found something make-shift without involving duct tape?

Call or email Front Panel Express in Seattle, or just download their software and design your own.

I got GK ears for mine, work like a charm. I saw a pair on TB for sale not too long ago.

They seem a little high at $40, but putting this and a gook Korg tuner into a small 2-space rack looks good and weighs next to nothing.

I believe they were made by GK. It's been a while, but I'm going back through my paypal records to see if I can find the name of the dealer.

$40 is pretty steep, although Guitar Center is selling ears for a Markbass unit for $29 which is still expensive in my book: Markbass Rack Ear Kit for F1 and more Rackmount Ears, Brackets & Panels at GuitarCenter.com.

I'm working on this same project today. I've spotted some brackets at Lowes that should do the trick... at a whopping $3.28! But, you know, I'd have to drill some holes, so that's probably the additional $36.72 you pay for...

Just need to know what size screws to put in the side of the head. Anyone know that off hand? Thread pitch, metric or SAE?

I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm totally interested. I'd like to know exactly what brackets you are talking about. As for screws, probably easiest to bring your head into Lowes and try out the different screws. Post pictures too so I can see how these makeshift brackets look!

I made mine out of aluminum angle from work. Took 20 min. I'm pretty sure they sell it at the depot.

...Just in case anybody comes across this thread in search of these rack ears, out of a sense of strewardship (I realize some of you are googling this word right now), I feel that it is my responsability to inform you that the rack ears for the fusion amp are exactly the same as the rack ears for the MB500 just black instead of grey.
