I wouldn't use the additional fans, personally.

why do you need a fan? doesn't the hartke stay cool enough on its own? if not, i'd think there was something wrong with it.

Out of curiosity... Why not? I've thought about it as they're not that heavy, wouldn't seem to hurt anything, and could do "as advertised" and help to make things cooler. Not necessary?

any amp worth its salt should stay cool enough to where additional fans aren't needed.

Well you know I agree with you nearly 100% there Jimmy. But then the SVT-4PRO has the airflow side to side in the rack which needs all sorts of space and special considerations most racks don't have.

I haven't messed with the OP's amp so I don't know how it is laid out. Suppose I could go get download a manual and look.

But no matter what, I'd say a guy needs to review each situation individually and decide if he needs to do custom crapola to make sure his amp cools in his individual situation.

Ya know what I mean?

BOB

Billy what model amp?

you raise a good point, bob. didn't think about that. but that's a special case. afaik, all hartke amps vent from the back, so there really shouldn't be much of an issue.

what about power conditioner

the Hartke is a 500 watt with a rear fan. the Furman power conditioner will have the amp, fans, brick with stompboxes, and a drum machine pluged in so I would guess there would be some heat I don't know. The gear is on the Brown truck as we type.Well heat is the enemy of any electronics so I thought it would be [cool] to fill the space with fans. They draw little power which is cool.I run extra fans in the computer I guess you can feel the coolness huh?Basically the Furman worried me and everything in a plywood box with no cool curculation can't be .....well..cool.

i ran a furman in a rack with an swr sm-500, two wirelesses, a comp, and a handful of stompboxes and it never even broke a sweat. and this was a cheap one. if you feel more comfy with an extra fan, far be it from me to tell you different, but more than likely not needed.
