Rack mount setup.

Can't seem to find a decent thread pertaining to a proper rack build, but I'm sure there is one. Can someone link me? For what it's worth, I'm racking an ampeg pro5, bbe sonic max, alesis power conditioner, and dbx eq. Stereo cables or mono? What order? Fx loop?

If it was me I would mount them from top to bottom- power strip, comp, bbe, eq, amp. I would run the fx loop out to the eq, to the bbe, to the comp to the fx return, all mono 1/4".

I'd call them balanced TRS or unbalanced TS.

I mostly use balanced TRS, or XLR. It depends on the gear. If the gear is unbalanced , balanced cables won't help. Sometimes, when combining balanced, and unbalanced gear, a custom cable can cure noise problems.

The only thing I do differently is to put the BBE last in the chain (that is what they recommend in the onwers manual).

Experiment with compressor placement. Before amp, in the loop before eq, and in the loop after eq all sound VERY different

yes, I wish someone would have told me this years ago. it's a two channel comp too, so I've been experimenting with it in two places at once for ***** and giggles. sounds tasty.

Make sure you support that 5 Pro on the bottom and give it a rack space above it for breathing room, unless your other components are small enough to allow it to ventilate well. Pretty important for very high wattage amps.
