Rack Mounts

I'm in the market for a rack mount case for my SVT 3-pro. Likely a 3-4 space case. I don't necessarily need an ATA flight case, so was looking at the moulded plastic versions and and soft cases. I'm curious about adequate air flow around the amp for these soft cases. Anyone have any suggestions or tips?

craigslist can have some good deals. I found a guy who got brand new skb racks in some kind of liquidation. he was selling a 6 space for 100$. I ended up buying new because the rack rails were all stripped out and it was easier to get a new one. And I have no experience with the gator soft cases but they do seem cool.

I had a poll a while back regarding plastic cases and the SKB won over the alternatives (Gator was 2nd); I don't remember the 3Pro as running hot but sold it a while back

I use a SKB 1SKB-SC192U soft case for my power amp. It has space above and below. I did take two spare rubber feet cut them and wedge them above and below the amp just as a precaution so the racks didn't have to support all the weight of the amp.

Both flaps open completely and the front has velcro to keep the flap out of the way while it's open. Big front pocket, strap handles and shoulder strap. I think it ran around $75

Check the Carvin website, they have some very nice rack cases and are inexpensive. They call them Road Warrior Cases i believe.

I'm no expert that's for sure but when I had a rack the power amp had fans that drew in through the back and blew out through the front - there weren't any ventilation slots on the top, bottom or sides. The manual said it was fine to fill the spaces above and below so long as the front and rear were free.

I had an SKB molded for several years...never had an issue with heat and it was durable as all get out
