Rack possibilities

Alright so I've started building my first rack setup. so far I have:

Peavey Tour 700 head
Dbx 266 Compressor/Gate

I've also been looking into a:

Pre-amp - (though I play straight clean through the Tour)
Power Conditioner (I think thats what it's called..basically protects against power surges etc.)


what else is out there? what do they do? what are some name (or not so name) brands, etc.

Just looking to expand my knowledge and possibilities for future expansions.

Might wanna check out the Sans Amp Bass Driver rack mount. Same as the floor unit but has a mid control. Now it's in the $350 range but if you are building a rack system then a good solid tone is your aim and I assume from your name you play metal and this should get you tonally blissful. Not sure what kind of gain your Peavey has so...
