Rack for a Titan?

Sign in to disble this ad
Can anyone recommend a case a mesa V-12 Titan? I was thinking that a shock-mount case would be good, but is it wroth the extra cost? I just ask because of the weight of the amp. I think it weights about fifty pound, and if a fifty pound object is dropped from a height of four feet the results could be catastrophic.

I am also looking for a good rack-mount power supply @20amps, any ideas?

Unless you are clumsy, or are having someone else handle your gear (this might not qualify even as the added weight might result in more drops); shock-mounting probably isn't worth the added bulk and cost.

It is something to consider when racking a big tube amp; but the V12 should be built pretty well for average gig-to-gig movement on its own.

I also question your proposed four foot fall. Any shock-mount would be tested with the sort of weight you are talking about here, and why on earth would you be playing somewhere that this could happen with such a nice amp? If your amp is walking around on your cabs, put it on anything else but the cab. Amplifiers falling off of amps are rediculous unless a drunk stumbling into the cab is involved.

I don't think a shock mount is necessary. Plus, I'm pretty sure the Titan is more around the 35 pound range.... not exactly sure though. But it's definetly not fifty pounds. I have mine in a carpeted Grundorf case, which works good, but I wish it were about one inch deeper.

Smile Titan fun

I've got mine in a SKB 4 rack space case. Very sturdy and easy to move around. FYI Rackmount Titan weighs 33 lbs see link. The Head type Titan is 56lbs.

Mesa Wt's and info

I use a Road Runner 12 space, with a 3 space drawer on the bottom, then the Titan, then 3 blanks, then compressor, then wireless, then power strip.

All on top of a caster board with 4" wheels. It just rolls up next to my cabs, without being lifted on top.

I am kind of clumsy and so are the guy in my band. I think a four foot drop is possible but not likely. I'm looking to get an eight spaced rack. I also would like to put a preamp, tuner, and so forth.
Any thoughts on a power supplies?

I use the standard Furman with lights. I turn on the Titan separately from the other stuff even though it's plugged into the Furman, too.

I'd be much more worried about whatever it lands on.
