Question Which RACKCASE for Ampeg SVT 2 ??

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

So which one should I get?
I'm after the smallest possible fit, lightest weight possible Rackcase.

I went to the local place recently, and they had a few that were too many U's, waaaaayyy too deep or not deep enough.

Would this one fit?
Gator Cases is the manufacturer of musical instrument and audio visual cases - 4U Audio Rack; Shallow (GR-4S)

Keep in mind SVT 2's get pretty hot. You might want a couple extra spaces for breathing room.

Oh yeah, you are going to want standard depth as well, not shallow.

...and ideally, mount the back solidly, too, that is a pretty heavy amp to depend solely on the front four screws to support it adequately, IMO.

And watch the fan port. Its on the side and shouldnt be blocked. Overall the SVT II is not a good candidate for rack mounting IMO due to weight, heat generation. My 3 SVT II's remain unracked.

I use a gator 4 space shock mount case for my svt 4 pro. The shock mount part gives a good amount of space for the side fan and vents to breath. And it gives u a lil protection bump and drops.

Cheers for the replies everyone.
Thank you especially for the words on heat!
I should say, it's an SVT2, not the 2pro

I'm pretty keen to give my amp some protection, so would rather encase it, but may end up leaving the lid off it inside the case to allow more heat dissipation.

Shockmount sounds like an awesome idea, but I wanna avoid a heavier case than need be.

Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
