Rackmountable guitar/bass hanger

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,
I was just perusing the internet and I found this nifty looking contraption.

Opentip.com: String Swing Folding Rack Mount Guitar Hanger

Does anybody have experience with an item like this?
I could get a lot of use out of one of these (hanging my back up bass on it while I play)

Kahler.

I've been using a similar model (made by Wallacher) for almost three years, gigging every weekend. No problems whatsoever.

Awesome.
I have seen that one too. My main concern is durability (I feel like hanging a bass on one could bend it overtime...).

I wouldn't be too worried about it. There are also stands that hold onto the back handles of an 810 cab that hold a bass, and I've never heard of quality issues with them.

^^^I saw those too. But I want to have my back up bass available during a gig and I feel that the ones that hook on handles will make my bass block too much speaker area on my cab.

I use the exact one you're talking about,no problems at all...Sorry,don't have any pictures but it's way more convenient than dragging around a stand,lol....especially all the more they cost. I got mine from someplace else,it ended up costing $18 with shipping...had to wait an extra week because it was out of stock but never the less it made it to my rack.

I can see a couple of problems with this design:
Your cab and rack have to be tall enough for your bass to clear the ground. When I was running a rack this would not have been an option as my rig wouldn't have been tall enough.

You can't have lightweight gear in your rack or there could be a counterbalance problem where the bass pulls you rack off the top of the cab. Say you had a micro head and a wireless unit in a shallow rack, I'd be concerned that the bass would pull the rack off the cab.

I don't use a rack anymore, but even if I did, I'd stick to something like a Hercules stand next to, or behind my cab.

One from today's postings, but there are many products of these types.

One I robbed and converted from a tripod three-instrument stand I had around, slides in and out of socket behind grill, bass sits on small chunk of foam on stage floor in front of cab:

Yep,you're exactly right...but if your rack is heavy enough and tall enough, which mine is,it works great,hahaha... I also have a Hercules stand too, which are great as well.

onegunguitar: That's awesome, are you using the string swing one or the wallacher?

Everyone else: My rack sits on an 8x10 and my rack is probably about 50 lbs. I saw those Markbass ones but the side handles on my cab are really low to the ground. Those stick on ones look cool too but I know it'd fall off on the side of my cab because I load it in and out of the back seat of my sedan so I have to slide it on its side.

I use the guitar grip hangers. It goes great with my theme. Just drilled a small hole in the rack panel so I can take it off for transporting. They are coming out with the right side this year so I will get the matching set

I've also used one of these on occassion with great success - if you're handles are up high enough - like a 4x10 on top of a road case or something.

At the last Anaheim NAMM show there was a chap (didn't meet him, but I met his lovely wife) who had a hanger that attached to pretty much any configuration of amp/case/cab that you could imagine. Very simple design, but tough and very cool. They even had a little cart version. I can't remember the name at all, but I remember they were based close to or in San Diego.

I have a flyer somewhere at home...

This is pretty cool too. I could hang this on the handle of my rack case.
But I'm still leaning towards the rackmountable one because I can keep it secure in my rack and not have to worry about an extra piece of gear to keep track of.
