Radiator cab for walkabout scout 4ohm or 8ohm?

Sign in to disble this ad
Im thinking of getting a radiator cab for my walkabout scout to play larger gigs..

Would there be a big volume difference between an 8ohm radiator or 4ohm radiator?

I know its running at 2.67 vs 2..

Also i was gonna get 1x15 but i like the 1x12 so it matches...

Just wondering about this..

Thanks guys

I've always felt the volume gain with impedance changes is quite negligible. But I'd probably opt for the 8 ohms just to be safer impedance wise.

NO, if you're pairing it with a 4 ohm Scout combo, you need a 4 ohm ext cab, otherwise the 2 speakers will receive unequal power, ie: the 4 ohm Scout gets 2/3, while the 8 ohm gets 1/3. Never mix 2 single driver cabs of differing impedances.

Not sure that's the best option here-there may be no "correct" answer: since both 4 and 8 Ohm cabs will handle about 150 watts, it's true that a pair of 4 Ohm cabs will balance the power distribution and make it less likely to blow one of them, but if you are careful with volume and listen to the 4 Ohm (at risk) cab (keep it on top) then the 4/8 Ohm stack may allow the head to run cooler. THE BEST option would be to get an 8 Ohm ext and shell out the extra 130 bucks for a replacement 8 Ohm driver, to end up with a pair of 8 Ohm cabs. They will be every bit as loud as a pair of 4 Ohm cabs with that head, distribute the power equally and not heat up the head.
