radio signals

has anyones amp or cab pick up radio signals???? is this normal?? if not, how do i eliminate it?

tube amps sometimes do it. I have had SS amps do it too........if you wire an input jack incorrectly, your instrument can become an antenna. Those, ofcorse pickup many radio frequencies.

You can also buy something called a " choke ", which clamps on to your cable and eliminates RFI. I think Radio Shack sells them.

The usual culprits are unshielded high impedance pickups and poorly shielded instrument cables, but amps with a chassis that doesn't fully enclose the innards, like old Fenders for instance, also can act as receivers. Mainly it happens when there's a radio transmission tower within a few hundred yards.

Playing a gig within five hundred feet of a thousand or so watt college radio station can be difficult too.

Try another instrument cable, or two. Yours might have a "weak" spot in the shield, or a poor cable end/plug connection.

you know what, i didnt think to do that, thanks. i thought it was either the amp, cab, of speaker cable. but i will definately switch out if that problem continues.
