randall rba 500es question

So I just bought myself this gem today for $75 at a local pawn shop. Nothing wrong except a few scratchy and poppy pots. Question is: what is the best way to clean them? Compressed air? Contact cleaner? Also its rated at 300 at 2ohms if I plug that into my ampeg 8x10 I should get all of that right?

DeoxIT or RidOx to clean the pots. The 810 is 4 ohm so you will only get about 200 watts. 200 watts into an 810 is nothing to sneeze at though.

I thought running it as a full stack would send it as 2ohms...but then I don't understand ohms as it is haha. Cause the back of the head has two 4ohm outputs and so does the ampeg. Ohms confuse me...clearly haha.

Well that might be a question for someone like JimmyM if Ampeg had an 810 cab with 4 ohm top and 4 ohm lower inputs? That would make it a split cab and no way to make the two sections equal the standard 4 ohm 810 impedance.

Just checked the back again. Its 4ohms mono 8ohms dual.

That sounds more like it ;)

Having two outputs that say "4 Ohms" does mean, that you can plug in an 8-Ohm - cab in both of them, and because the outputs are wired in parallel, you will end with 4 Ohm total.

So you can use the 4-Ohm - jack on the back of the Ampeg-cab to do it right. No need for use two cables.

I had a Randall-head like this back in 1979, was a fine sounding amp theese days. Congratulation for this gem.

So sayed Kong.

Cheers

Uwe
