RBI through a 1st gen 1001RB

Sign in to disble this ad
question for you amp gurus.

I have a 1001RB at the house (just got it) with a damaged input (knew about it before I bought it). Not sure if it's just the input or if the preamp isn't working as well but I know the power amp works. Gonna run a Sansamp RBI through the power amp BUT is there anyway to plug into the Sansamp and connect it to the 1001RB in a way to bypass the 1001RB input yet still somehow incorporate the 1001RB preamp EQ with the RBI EQ?
I know I need to get the 1001RB fixed....just a matter of when. Trying to think of a work around the might possibly let me use both preamps together.
Worse comes to worse I'll just plug the RBI into the effects rtn on the 1001RB and run the 1001RB solely as a power amp for now.
Your advice is appreciated!
Barry

If it is like the 1001RBII then you either get everything from the input jack or Boost circuit and Power amp from the effects return jack. I did this with a VT Bass pedal and it sounded really good, but the DI doesn't work when you plug into the effects return so I went back to the input jack.

If you want to get fancy with a soldering iron you might be able to solder in a jack before the EQ, but that could lead to the need to purchase a whole new amp

yeah.....hooked it all up last night. No other way other than going through the effects return and bypassing the input/preamp stage on the GK. No worries as this sounded great (love the Sansamp RBI) but yeah, I'll definitely be getting the GK repaired in a few weeks.

racked it up last night and ran the RBI throught the 1001RB effects return. Worked like a charm. I've owned the MB2-500 and 1001RBII in the past....I forgot how conservatively rated GK watts are. This is the loudest 540watts I've ever heard. WAY louder and more headroom than the PV-4C power amp (500 watts bridged mono at 4ohms) I was using. The PV is now my back up power amp.
Definitely going to get the preamp section and input on the 1001RB fixed though....as soon as I can afford it but right now it's totally doing the job very well. 11 new knobs on the way from GK (amp came with no knobs.....got it for a steal though).
