Really an Epifani Cab? What is this?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all. I'm sure one of you out there is vastly more knowledgable in all things cab.

Take a look - what do you think? The drivers are def. Epifani, but the cabinet looks like nothing of theirs I have seen.

What's with the hand-written gold paint pen logo on both the cabinet face it's self - and on the odd homemade looking badge that is on the grill? Ever hear of such a thing?

Is this just some crappy box that someone decided to throw Epi drivers into?

As you can see from pics it's 4ohm. 400 watt and has been around the block yet is suprisingly one of the best sounding cab's I've ever owned honestly and paid next to nothing for it. Just so odd looking.

Thoughts anybody?

The writing on both the speakers looks identical, so that could be kind of legit. The grill looks like some gold sharpie scribble.

Could be epi speakers pulled from a legit cab into another or a diy deal. Don't know much about the brand so just throwing that out there...

He has a nice head, but it isn't set right either. The mids are flat at 10 not 4. Let's hope that cab sounds better than it looks ... Cheers.

yep

Yep. Sure is ugly.. Sounds great actually. I've played with my fair share of "boutique" and what most rock guys see as high end gear. The little bastard is ugly - but it does put out. Best fast lows I've heard out of a 210 in a while.

Yea.. I like that head, best 400 bucks I've spent. I make my noise - you make yours. There is no way to have an amplifier "set right" in my opinion.

Just wondering if anyone had seen anthing like this. Gold pen and all that. ..

Are those 12's? If so, that might actually be an early prototype of the first Epifani cab design... the original T212, which if my memory serves me, was a horizontal 212 with rear porting and a bullet tweeter. The original ceramic Epifani drivers all had the 'signature' on them.

If those are 10's, I don't know what it is, since the early 210 T design was a more vertical offset design.

10's not 12's

They are 10's KJung. Hard to tell by hearing them though.

I had an odd Epi cab with EVs in it. Nick Epifani confirmed that it was legit. It might be worth sending them an email.

Wow! Cool. The gold writing style is the same. Strange cabs. How did you get in touch with him?

Thanks for post!

IIRC (which is a 50/50 chance at best) those early 2x10's were horizontal (like the early 2x12's) and front ported. Freakin' killer 2x10's, BTW.

I think that cab may be legit. If it is legit prolly a prototype. Cool cab!!

That looks like an early Epi prototype cab to me.
I got to try a few of the very earliest cab designs, and I remember seeing a cab exactly like your white one.
I was given one extactly like it in black to use and provide feedback on. But yes - I think that is a legit early Epi prototype cab.
