To the Rear!

I have a rack mount preamp (ampeg svtIIp) , I want to switch the input to the rear from the front ( or have them both). I was thinking about using the 1/4" footswitch jack ( never use it) basically clipping it and rewiring it to/ as the input. Any one else done something like this?

I've done worse. It should work but the jacks are board-mounted which can be a pain. If I were to do this, I would go from under the board. Cut the traces for the footswitch jack and run shielded cable from the front input jack connections to the footswitch jack. If the front input jack is a shorting type (shorts the input to ground with nothing plugged in), you'll need to pull that from the circuit.

good point , didnt think of the shorting jack. I was going to unsolder the footswitch jack from the board and then basically jumper it to the input or remove the input leads all together and run the footswitch leads to where they went. gonna have to get in there i guess and see whats what.
