I have a genz shuttle-3 w/ 8" cab combo (don't laugh). I love the sound but let's face it--I'm not pushing a lot of air at 175W through an 8. It's good enough for small spaces & when I play w/ a PA system but I think I'll need more substance outside of these environments.

An additional genz 8" would put me at 300W. easy to mobilize, doesnt take up space in my small apt, but for that money I'm not sure if it's a wise decision.

I ahve a 15" in mind; shopping for new, it looks like I can afford Kustom or GK. I haven't heard Kustom but I'm familiar w GK. Any opinions on Kustom?

used 15"s, I can probably get ampeg or genz altough the used genz seems rare. any advice appreciated.

The matching 8" ext cab will be the best match. Anything else is a gamble, it may sound great, it may kill your sound completely, or most likely, somewhere between the two.

..

Get a new 4 ohm cab, like an Avatar B212 or TB153, and just use the 8” cab for practice. Carvin’s selling their 15”, two-way cab for a song right now too.

I've been eyeballing those $399 GK 212MBEs, I think you can get them shipped from places that won't charge you sales tax for $399. Plus claimed weight is something like 34 pounds. The mbx115 looks neat too, just $249 new.
