Recommend a high power 12" speaker for me

I want to run a single 12" as a portable practice cab with my ashdown abm evo 500. I need a 12 inch that can handle a lot of power. Suggestions?

These come to mind right off the top of my head. Some neodymium magnets some not. Don't know if weight is an issue for you.

I agree that the 3012HO will be much louder per watt and better sounding in a small cab than most other 12" Eminence drivers.

For practice and light jamming I'm not really convinced that the Jack gives you enough to justify doubling the size and weight of the enclosure.

A Jack 10 with a CD and a deltalite 2510 II would be a better use of funds for a small standalone box I think. More comparable to a single 12 in size/weight/cost/volume.

You could always make your own box and save quite a bit of money!

I agree with the others here.
-> 3012HO is very efficient but fairly expensive.
-> 3012LF a bit less efficient but go's a little lower, again fairly expensive.

If you're looking for something a little cheaper the KAPPA PRO-12A hits hard.
Its non neo so it weighs a bit more but costs half of what the others go for.
I have a 2x12 cab with the kappa pro 12's in it. Its heavy but hooked up to a 1400 watt qsc it puts out some serous bass.

You can find all the above woofers new on ebay.

yes..the jack's are bigger but they extend the low range of the HO quite a bit

I realize that's what is claimed by the simulated charts but having a/b'd them it's not really noticeably different on bottom. Not calling Bill a liar or anything just saying it's not as big of a difference as it seems.

I own a Jack 12 and know whereof I speak; it's definitely a good bass cab. That said it's as big and awkward to move around as a big 1x15 box or a 2x10, so not really "small and portable." 40lbs and >20" wide and >16" deep are the fail for porta-rigs.

If I wanted a small standalone rig for playing rock gigs with a loudish drummer and negligible PA support, the Jack 12 is a good way to go. But it's overkill for what the OP is asking.

Avatar's SB112 ceramic comes loaded with the 500w Delta LF. I got the NEO version. Not quite the power handling but easier on me old back. Very nice cabs.

Awesome - thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to check out 3012HO and LF, and the KAPPA.
